Getting A NYS License?

Below is a selection of classes needed or used to acquire the skills and paperwork to successfully pass a New York State road test. The 5 hr. Pre-Licensing class is mandatory, the others are not. All courses are taught by Kevin Leonard or by American Safety Institute.

5hr. Pre-Licensing Class In-Person

$75

This 5 hour class is mandated for all new drivers in New York State. This class earns you a MV-278 certificate which is needed for making a road test appointment. This certificate is active for one year and then it is void. We teach with small class sizes on purpose for more effect. Currently we do 2 or 3 per month based on demand. Call for details and to pre-register. Student must have a NYS permit to attend.

We also have the 5hr class on-line for students 18 and older for $65.

5hr. Pre-Licensing Class On-Line

$65

This 5 hour class is in English or Spanish and is mandated for all new drivers in New York State. This class earns you a MV-278 certificate which is needed for making a road test appointment. This certificate is active for one year and then it is void. Note *This is an on-line version and you must be 18 years old or older to attend.

Private In-Car Lessons

$150

We offer private driving lessons in our dual controlled school car for those who need hands on training. Kevin Leonard teaches these lessons personally. The focus is on proper, safe and defensive driving techniques. Students will be challenged with parallel parking, 3 point turns, the open road and inner city driving. Driving Lessons are 60 minutes long and are conducted in the village of Scotia NY. Our service area includes Scotia, Glenville, Burnt Hills, Charlton and Western Clifton Park.

Driving Evaluations

$105

If you feel you are ready for the road test but want a professional opinion, we can help. This 30 min evaluation is a perfect solution to calm your nerves before an upcoming road test. Kevin will put you through a simulated road test and see how you do. An honest critique, some driving advice and a review of your paperwork will follow each evaluation. NYS Permit Required

Snow Survival Course- Parents & Teens

$175

The 3-hour course starts in the classroom and ends in the car. This class covers many aspects of winters worst including ABS, snow tires, traction limits, emergency kits and more. Great for a beginner or a refresher from last years winter. Parents and teens welcome! price is per person. NYS Permit or License required. A 5hour class is available for $300. Out of Service Area & No-Show fees

There is a $55 up-charge for lessons outside our service area &

a $100 fee is charged for no-show situations.

These apply to lessons, road tests and evaluations.
